Low Waste Summer Reset
Elizabeth BowerThere’s something about the start of summer that naturally makes people want to reset a little. School routines end, schedules shift, windows open, and suddenly life starts moving a bit differently.
At Refillism, we always notice summer brings a different energy into the shop too. More people are traveling, spending time outside, heading to markets and parks, and looking for simpler routines that feel lighter and easier.
The good news is that sustainable living doesn’t have to become more complicated during summer. In many ways, summer is actually one of the easiest seasons to reduce waste naturally.
Fresh produce is everywhere. Farmers markets are busy. Reusable water bottles come along for the ride. People spend more time outdoors and less time consuming unnecessary things inside.
This season doesn’t need perfection. Small shifts still matter.
A few easy summer swaps we love:
• Refillable body care for travel and everyday use
• Reusable bags and containers for markets, road trips, and beach snacks
• Dryer balls instead of disposable dryer sheets during endless summer laundry
• Refilling household products before vacations or busy weeks
Summer is also a great reminder that sustainability should support your life, not overwhelm it. Sometimes the most sustainable thing you can do is simply use what you already have, refill what works, and buy more intentionally moving forward.
As we head into June, we’re excited for upcoming workshops, new seasonal products, community events, and continuing to grow alongside all of you.
Whether you’re fully immersed in low waste living or just figuring out where to start, we’re glad you’re here.
Here’s to a slower, simpler, lower waste summer.
