Our Customers' Favorite Products

If you’ve ever visited Refillism, you might have been overwhelmed with the sheer amount of different eco-friendly products lining the walls. Many customers try something new every time they visit because they find it hard to pick one thing from the variety of items we display! It can be difficult to know where to begin looking amidst all the different options, so we asked our customers which of our products they’d rather use – here’s what they said!
- Liquid Dish Soap
The transition to zero-waste living can be difficult because mainstream consumerism doesn’t cater to it. You won’t see large franchises catering to this type of eco-mindset, purely because producing things sustainably isn’t always the fastest and cheapest option when in the manufacturing process. With Americans producing almost a pound of plastic per person every day, any chance we get to cut down on our plastic usage is vital to keep our waste minimal. That’s why Refillism is helpful to those wishing to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle. We provide products that are very similar to those you’d find in a regular convenience store, just with an environmentally-friendly spin.
Our orange-scented liquid dish soap is just the same as your typical store-bought detergent, but it is an all-natural option that doesn’t come in a disposable plastic bottle. You can bring any empty container from home to fill with our dish soap or purchase an in-store container that can be reused.
If you’re looking to change things up, you could try a fresh orange-scented castile bar instead! They last longer than liquid soap, but obviously are different than what most people use. We’d recommend pairing the solid dish soap with a bamboo dish brush.
- Plant-based Sponge
You’ve got to use something to wash your dishes, and what better than a plant-based sponge? This was one of two very close ties in our series of polls, but our customers recommend this sponge just slightly more than the Swedish dish cloth!
Our scrubber sponge is made from organic palm fibers, is compostable, and biodegradable. If you’re looking for something to clean your dishes and counters that is similar to the plastic-based sponges you find in most stores, this is probably your best bet! One nice thing about these fabric sponges is that they can be thrown in the laundry machine when dirty, which helps them last longer.
Our Swedish dish cloth is another alternative to your stereotypical plastic sponge. They are also compostable and biodegradable, and can be washed in the dish washer if needed! Ours are made of 70% plant-based material and 30% cotton, lasting up to a year if cared for well.
- Metal Straw
This was also a close tie, but when asked if they would rather use a glass or metal straw, our customers chose the latter! Obviously a merit to this option is that there is no chance of this straw breaking during travel, though check that it’s okay before you bring a metal straw through airport security!
Reusable straws are a good option for when you are out and about and bringing along a coffee or a smoothie from home. They are also handy to have if you prefer to drink from a straw at restaurants or even at a friend’s house.
Would you prefer a metal or glass drinking straw? If you think you’d like the glass option, check it out here!
- Utensil Travel Set
Whether you’re traveling or just grabbing a bite to eat at a local café, it’s always good to have an extra set of utensils in your bag to use instead of the disposable options restaurants so often hand out. Out of the two pictured sets, our customers chose the reusable metal cutlery set that comes in a wheat straw container. This product can be put in the dishwasher (including the case).
If you’re interested in the bamboo utensil travel set, it comes with an additional bamboo straw and is held in a cloth wrap instead of bag. The bamboo will need to be hand washed and left to dry to keep it in prime condition!
- Laundry Sheets
One of our favorite products, our laundry sheets, replace the 1 billion plastic laundry jugs that enter landfills every year. One paper-like sheet can be torn in half to cover two loads, and they come in three different scents: fresh linen, lavender, and unscented. They’re a customer favorite because they take up minimal room, use no plastic, and clean clothes just as well as liquid detergent!
There is a lot of personal preference when it comes to washing clothes, and we have many options at Refillism. If you’d prefer to refill a container with our laundry powder or liquid laundry detergent, we have both of those as well.
If you’re new to the Refill family, we hope this article helps you find a few new products to try! Our inventory is always shifting, so feel free to contact us with any ideas you have for new eco-products we could try out and potentially even sell. And thank you to all of our loyal Instagram followers for participating in our survey. Happy shopping!
